Ascent Physical Therapy Specialists Launches New Website

After more than a year of project work, Ascent Physical Therapy Specialists has officially launched its new website utilizing the custom website-building platform, Squarespace!

The COVID-19 pandemic largely influenced healthcare practices to focus on the expansion of virtual and digital healthcare services for their patients. Following this trend, Mayur Bandekar, a patient of Ascent PT Specialists at the time, saw an opportunity to improve our old website’s functionality, aesthetic, and design. His healthcare consulting background, along with his experience of using the Squarespace tool during a past internship, inspired him to pursue an idea to turn our previous website into something that was more accessible, aesthetically-pleasing, and easy to manage.

Our previous website was outdated - missing pictures, invalid links, and old-fashioned aesthetics was evidence of this. The picture below describes some of these errors:

Links that did not work, outdated pictures, etc. were some of the problems found by the project team (Saniya Chitre, Sarina Patel, & Mayur Bandekar) when examining our old website. The project team saw an opportunity to improve the functionality of this website utilizing the Squarespace tool.

Stephen M. Ross BBA Juniors, Saniya Chitre and Sarina Patel, were also involved in the website-building process as Project Consultant Interns under the supervision of Project Mentor Mayur Bandekar. This project was first-hand experience for both students who want to pursue careers within the intersection of healthcare and business. The University of Michigan’s rigorous curriculum equips undergraduate students with the relevant and versatile skills needed to change the healthcare industry - for this project, Saniya and Sarina’s skill-sets were pivotal in creating a more enticing website.

Overall, this project took about ~1 year (May 2021 - April 2022) until it was complete. During this time-span, Mayur was a patient of Ascent’s, working with our physical therapist Dr. Andrew Grix. According to Mayur, Dr. Grix was instrumental at helping Mayur recover from and manage his Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome: “At Ascent, I was not only a patient - I was also a student learning the correct exercises, techniques, and anatomy to help understand and manage my body. I will never forget the knowledge imparted on me from Andrew, and hope that helping build Ascent’s new website can be a small thank you to him and the rest of the Ascent staff who took care of me during this time.”
